How I Turned My “One Small Idea” Into a Meaningful 7-Figure Business

I’ve spent a good part of the last 20 years researching and studying the best personal growth and human potential concepts, from spirituality and productivity to mindfulness and positive psychology. Over the last decade, I’ve poured my heart and soul into making a difference in the lives of others while doing what I love. Since launching my business in 2010, my ‘one small idea’ has grown to multiple seven-figures per year, is incorporated in five countries, and I’ve written and/or published more than 12 titles under our imprint Dailygreatness.

But I can tell you, it wasn’t always this way….

Previously, I was a singer, actress, and songwriter with a dream of making it big in the entertainment industry. From the outside, it looked like I was living my dream. I was a finalist on Australian Idol, had a deal with a major record label, and traveled the world writing and recording with some of the world’s best producers and songwriters. I was also working as an actress and TV presenter while traveling Australia with my 11 piece band in corporate entertainment. At the same time, I was a secret self-help junkie, reading every self-help book I could get my hands on.

After losing in the finals of Australian Idol, I moved to London to pursue my career and hit a major crisis.

Spiritually and financially bankrupt and at rock bottom, I was shocked to realise that all the self-help books I’d read and all the knowledge I’d acquired were not helping me.

That’s when I had my epiphany.

I had a lot of knowledge and concepts in my head but it’s not enough to read books, go to seminars, and listen to podcasts. Personal growth isn’t something you learn, it’s something you do. It’s not the words you read in a book, it’s the actions you take afterwards.

And what appeared to be a breakdown was actually my ‘breakthrough’.

The missing piece of the personal growth puzzle was applied knowledge

Over the next year,  I tried and tested the best self-help concepts and distilled them down into a daily, weekly, and yearly format incorporating proven mindset, self-help, and positive psychology methodologies.

As I practiced this simple daily ritual, I notice that my depression was lifting, I was waking up feeling inspired, I was more focused and I had breakthroughs in ways I’d not experienced before.

It was at that time that I got brutally honest with myself and made the tough decision to leave the entertainment industry, which now felt unfulfilling, and to dedicate my life to my true passion and purpose — personal growth and human potential.

Noticing an obvious gap in the market, with little to no practical self-help tools, I launched Dailygreatness and pioneered the practical self-help category with our series of personal and professional mindset tools utilizing, amongst other things, a morning and evening structure that worked so well for me.

The most rewarding part of all, is knowing how my own personal transformation and challenges have helped hundreds of thousands of people all over the world.

‘It’s been quite a journey, and along the way, I’ve learned many things about life and business. Perhaps most importantly, to succeed in life, you need to master your mindset.’

Entrepreneurs experience many frustrations and challenges and it takes a lot to mature as an entrepreneur.

There’s often no one to turn to and the journey can be lonely. It takes courage to learn how to take a hit and get back up time and time again until you succeed, often in the face of perceived or real criticism.

Perhaps the most difficult part, yet the most essential element to succeeding in life and business, is doing the work of personal growth and acquiring the mindset for how to think successfully. Without this, even the best strategy will fail.

Aside from my husband and two children, there’s nothing I love more than to coach and empower my clients to own their power, reach their potential, and fast-track their success.
